This mosaic lokta paper features a charming cobblestone pattern, which has been “burned” into the paper by the sun. First, the natural lokta paper is dipped into a base color of semi-transparent dyes that have been extracted from plants, fruits and vegetables native to Nepal. A die-cut pattern is then laid on top of the paper and exposed to the sun. The unique two-tone result is what we call “sun washed”, as the areas exposed to the sun become darker than those blocked. Deckle edges add to the beauty of this handmade paper. Great for book covers, home décor projects, paper collage and more, your imagination is endless.
